I was pleased to convene through our Program on Global Faith and Inclusive Societies a critical discussion on an overlooked issue: the impact of organized crime on religious freedom across the Americas.


Criminal groups threaten religious communities through violence, extortion, and coercion, silencing voices of faith and disrupting worship. We heard insights from advocates working on the front lines in Mexico and Colombia, where religious leaders and communities face significant risks. Their stories underscore the urgent need for new action to protect religious freedom in the region.
