The State of Religious Freedom Worldwide: An Inside Look at the Axis of Upheaval’s Religious Persecution and How the U.S. Can Counteract It

It was my privilege to collaborate with the McCain Institute in advising and co-editing this comprehensive report on religious persecution in China, Iran, North Korea, and Russia. In addition to writing the introduction, I worked alongside many distinguished colleagues whose chapters provide rigorous analysis of this “Axis of Upheaval” and their systematic repression of individuals for their religious beliefs. Most importantly, every chapter includes recommendations for U.S. government action. Across the report, there is a consistent call for the United States to do more to press these authoritarian governments to reform and end the religious persecution.
